The chic Capitol Grand apartment tower in South Yarra has Oscar-winning beauty Charlize Theron as its face, and residents will also get the A-list treatment.
The concierge service at the plush development on the corner of Chapel Street and Toorak Road will go as far as booking cosmetic procedures for those who require assistance with discretion.
The developer, LK Property Group, is accepting online deposits from today – the first Melbourne luxury development to give buyers the chance to pre-purchase an apartment over the web.
Apartments up to level 31 require a $10,000 deposit and buyers of the elite apartments on floor 32 and above will need to lay down $25,000.
About 4000 people have registered interest in the 450 available apartments since February.
Businessman James Packer’s $2 billion Barangaroo development in Sydney has also accepted online pre-sales to meet continuing foreign demand for high-end Australian property.
The most recent data from the Foreign Investment Review Board shows the Chinese are the biggest players in the Australian real estate market, with $5.9 billion in investment approvals in the year to June 2013.
Second are Canadians, intending to plunge $4.9 billion into Aussie property, followed by Americans ($4.4 billion), Singaporeans ($2 billion), British ($1.67 billion) and Malaysians ($1.6 billion).
Representatives for Capitol Grand’s developer will go on a “roadshow” through Asia next month to spruik the apartments.
A new boutique retail precinct will stretch from the base of the tower, which will be finished in 2017.
The hoi polloi can burn their credit cards at the sparkling shopping centre, but Capitol Grand residents won’t have to endure the wait at cash registers, with a concierge to – naturally – do all of that mundane business.
The round-the-clock help – a sort of Jeeves – can make appointments for a smidge of waxing, tanning, blow drying or botox, sort out housekeeping and dry cleaning, or have the Lamborghini washed and shined.
A spokesperson for developer LK Property Group told Domain: “We anticipate that beauty, health and cosmetic treatment services, hair salon, cosmetic dentistry and medical practitioners will be on-site.”
All of those can be booked through the concierge.
Garaging and valet for a fleet of prestige vehicles, and a day spa, gym and swimming pools will also be available for residents.
The $500 million development by LK Property Group was launched at last month’s Formula One Grand Prix.
Prospective buyers could join leggy actress and model Theron, the project’s ambassador, on a simulated tour.
